Rafael Albuquerque

Rafael is currently the Head of Operations and Compliance at UMANA. He is a Brazilian attorney and legal entrepreneur who started his career in traditional industries as oil, gas, energy, fuels and agribusiness in the South of Brazil, focused on tax and M&A projects. Rafael is the first Brazilian to be certified as a Board Member by the Brazilian Institute of Corporate Governance (IBGC) under 30 years old, title that projected him to the Venture Capital industry and tech startups ecosystem. Rafael has also mentoring hundreds of startup companies at the Brazilian Association of Startups. Rafael moved to New York City to get an extension course at Columbia University, having also joining an American Law firm by that time. Always creative and open to new challenges, Rafael was invited to help wealthy families in Central America and South America, being exposed to many different cultures and legal systems around the world. He displays experience in Corporate Governance, structuring safe corporate environments through legal designs to give more confidence for families and investors. Rafael is passionate about people and his purpose is to help them perpetuating businesses as a legacy for a better future.
